Grade 9 Course Selection
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week, students had the opportunity to hear from the school counsellor at Eastern Shore District High School about the courses offered at the high school and also how the registration process will take place.
So far...Students have received presentations on the following information
General Information on course selection at ESDHS and provincial graduation requirements
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program offered through Cole Harbour High
The Options and Opportunities program (O2)
Students were given the course selection handbook on Tuesday (February 21st) which is also available on the ESDHS website.
The course selection form they were given was not the official course registration form, as they will be completing the course selection process online (through powerschool) the last week of March. The form is a helpful tool for students and families to help start plotting their path through high school as well as staying organized when we help the students select their courses on powerschool.
Upcoming IMPORTANT Dates:
March 7th - 6:30pm - General Information for parents/guardians at ESDHS. They will also discuss the different paths for Math (Academic, At Work and Essentials) as well hear about the O2 program.
March 8th - 7pm - Information session at Cole Harbour District High School for the International Baccalaureate program.
March 30th - 9am Deadline for the O2 applications. Completed forms can be handed in to the Mr. Swinemer (School Counsellor) at Gaetz Brook. There is an application and an interview to get into the program. Course selection closes before the students will know if they are successful
Last Week of March: Over the last week of March students will work with the Vice Principal and the School Counsellor and enter their course selection at school though their powerschool. Students who have lost or forgotten their powerschool can get their powerschool login reset using the powerschool login page or through school administration.
